Super Nintendo Boxed Games Boxed games for the SNES remain highly collectible, primarily because of Nintendo's choice to package them in such flimsy card boxes!
The Super Nintendo is commonly known as the SNES. It was Nintendo's 16-bit sequel to the NES, and boasted some of the greatest games ever made. This is the generation when Nintendo decided everything was 'Super', giving us Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Super Tennis and many more. The 'Mode 7' scaling and rotation chip helped the SNES retain the upper hand in the technology race against the Sega Megadrive.
While the NES Zapper was one of the best console light guns, the SNES SuperScope was certainly one of the worst. Resting like a giant bazuka on your shoulder, it was inaccurate, under supplied with games, and the fist full of batteries it required made it heavy and unweildy.
Playing import Super Famicom or American SNES games on a UK or Euro SNES isn't without problems, but is possible. Due to the incredibly delayed game launches between the rest of the world and PAL territories, many companies released adaptor cartridges. Generally these have two slots, one for a UK game at the back, and an import game in the top. Some later games managed to secure themselves against adaptors, but at least 90% of titles are compatible.
